DIRECTION OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Our basic policy on research and development is to further cultivate our three core technologies of powder processing, organic synthesis, and pharmaceutical manufacturing technology, and to develop more cutting-edge technologies. In addition, it is our policy to proactively introduce from external sources novel technologies that the Group does not currently have or should have in the future. The three major fields of application we have identified for these core technologies and new technologies are electronics, medical and healthcare, and lifestyle and environmental infrastructure. In each of these fields, we sequentially transfer new technologies established in our Research and Development Department to our business departments, while constantly focusing on research into new technologies and products that will support next-generation growth, such as fuel cell materials and organic-inorganic hybrid materials.
